Kentucky Natural Lands Trust

Thursday, September 11, 2008
Kentucky Natural Lands Trust

Only one half of one percent of Kentucky’s land is in the condition it was in before human settlement. Since its inception in 1995, the Kentucky Natural Lands Trust has been working to preserve the Commonwealth’s remaining natural areas and provide for their long-term upkeep. Currently under their care is Blanton Forest, Kentucky’s largest old-growth forest, and their most recent endeavor - the Pine Mountain Legacy Project, with which they hope to preserve over 151,000 acres of land over five counties – is the largest-scale preservation project in Kentucky’s history. Join us this Thursday to learn more about the Kentucky Natural Land Trust, and the state of forests in Kentucky.
