From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighAnother Kentucky lawmaker is drafting legislation to expand legal gambling operations in the Commonwealth.Last week, Louisville Rep. Tom Burch announced plans to file legislation allowing the operation of 18,000 slot machines in Kentucky. One third of the machines would be located at horse tracks. The other two-thirds would be divided among counties that approve them.Now, Prestonsburg Rep. Greg Stumbo is releasing an 88-page draft bill allowing video lottery terminals at horse tracks. Stumbo says the Kentucky Lottery Corporation would oversee licensing of the machines.Both measures will be considered by the 2009 General Assembly. Earlier this year, Governor Steve Beshear failed to win approval of casino gambling legislation at the heart of his 2007 gubernatorial campaign.
