Chemical manufacturer Rohm and Haas is cutting 220 jobs at its Louisville plant. The jobs being cut are in the acrylic emulsions and plastics additives divisions. Both of those sectors manufacture products used mostly in home construction. With home construction down, plant manager Jane Bowen says demand for the materials has dropped.βWhen you add to that escalating raw material costs, energy costs and freight costs it really became apparent that we needed to take costs out of the system," says Bowen.Rohm and Haas is cutting a total of 925 jobs in North America. Some of the work will be moved to other domestic plants and some will be moved to plants in Scotland and Singapore.
