The Kentucky Derby Festival has shut down registration for this year’s Marathon and Mini-marathon after reaching a cap of 12,000.It’s a record number of participants for the races.Festival spokesperson Mark Shallcross says the large field is the result of a strong outreach effort last year."We’ve attended five or six race expos during the fall and we had a booth there to give out information and encourage people to run in our race and we can tell by looking at the states where people have registered that there is definitely a correlation between the expos we attended and the runners who are coming out of state to run in the marathon." Shallcross said. The Marathon and Mini-Marathon both go off at Iroquois Park on Saturday, April 26.
