Budget Talks Resume In Frankfort

From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighKentucky House and Senate negotiators are back at work in Frankfort, trying to find common ground on a new biennial state budget.Twenty-two lawmakers sat down Wednesday morning and began poring over a 122-page document outlining the differences between the House and Senate versions of the state budget. They’re looking for compromises and House budget chairman Harry Moberly is optimistic they will find them."You know, our biggest concern is not roads, or water and sewer," Moberly said. "Our biggest concern is adequate funding for education at all levels and human services."The budget conferees hope to finish their work by the weekend, so House and Senate votes on a the budget can be taken early next week, before a 10-day veto recess.
