Single Moms by Choice

Wednesday, March 12, 2008Single Moms by Choice

People once pitied single moms, shouldering all the financial and emotional burdens of parenthood without a partner's help. But now, more and more single women are making a conscious choice to have children, either through adoption or reproductive technologies like artificial insemination, and raise them on their own. Advocates of single motherhood by choice say it's better to raise a child alone than to settle for a less-than-ideal partner and later divorce. Opponents argue that children without fathers can suffer from a lack of male role models. Tune in this Wednesday when we talk to women who have made the choice to have and raise kids without partners, and join us with your thoughts on choosing to be a single mom.Listen to the Show:Segment ASegment BSegment CGuests:Andrea Engber, founder, Singlemothers.orgCandice Hagan, single adoptive motherAnita Roper, single adoptive motherRelated Links:
