So what we are supposed to have here, in this straight to Hulu release “Deep Water,” is the return of the psychologically dense, erotic thriller.
The release of said Ben Affleck/ Ana de Armas movie coming coincidentally on the 30th anniversary of the premier of a major contribution to that genre, “Basic Instinct.”
The aforementioned married couple in this film adapted from a Patricia Highsmith novel lives in the sumptuous part of New Orleans. They have a young daughter, whom mom pretty much avoids. Because mom drinks and sleeps around.
A lot.
With impunity.
Hubby knows. She knows that he knows. Their friends know. They know their friends know.
