When your life is fine in the relationship department, you have to look elsewhere for inspiration when it comes to writing. “Pushing yourself out to the edge, feeling lost and not knowing where you are” is where Scott Hutchinson landed when it came to penning the latest Frightened Rabbit disc, The Winter of Mixed Drinks, due out this March. You’ll hear a bit of the Snow Patrol sound, but where that Irish band has gone for the mid-tempo arch, the Scots in Frightened Rabbit are running as hard as they can for the finish line, grasping with immediacy and desperation to get the words out.
