Bonnaroo Is Proof That God Loves Us And Wants Us To Be Happy

Saying last night was a magical experience seems kinda redundant... after all, I am at Bonnaroo and that's what this place is all about.  That said, Friday was extra special.  First off, it didn't rain.  I saw the weather radar and I (and everyone with the internet) was sure we were gonna get slammed.  But the rain never came.  Hence the title of this blog, and mad props to Ben Franklin whose quote I have slightly changed.

After my last phone in to WFPK I hightailed it over to see David Byrne.  He'd been on for a half hour by that point.  I hit his show during a slower point, but when he & his terrific band kicked into 'Once In A Lifetime' I thought I was going to need a Depends.  Next came 'Life During Wartime' and the whole crowd was enraptured.  'The Great Curve' closed the main set, but David hit us with a killer encore as well.

Next up was Phish.  Unreal!  I've never seem them live before, but I heard several Phish-heads say that Trey Anastasio sounded in much better form now that he made some lifestyle changes.  I especially loved the rendition of AC/DC's 'Highway To Hell' that came late in Phish's set.   I rocked it like a Rock Star until 3:30 am, out lasting both Kyle and Nick.  Which DJ is 44 years old? :-)  I even saw the last bit of Public Enemy.  Those guys are my age but they can still throw it down, too.

Now I'm off to catch Jimmy Buffet (a last minute addition).  Life's tough around here.
