Welcome to another Weekly Feed.  We're going to try something a bit different this time.  Instead of transcribing the show and reposting what I'm saying in the audio version, the blog will now be the companion piece - a bit more stripped down and to the point, still with all of the linky goodness that you need to find that new obsession.  Besides, its not the words you need, its the music!  So just push play.

Dark Mean – Happy Banjo

Still on repeat after 7 days.  Its in the running for the type of song I'll get all nostalgiac for 5 summers from now. New CD is the Frankencottage EP - part one of a trilogy eventually set to a play. Check the news over at Baby Stew.

The Nightgowns – Pppps

A weird little love letter set to a catchy tune.  Which is a great idea.  You can say whatever you like as long as you make it catchy.  She'll be playing it for all of her friends before she takes the time to realize what you really meant.  Their disc Sing Something is ready to be cooked in your oven of love.

Patterson Hood – Heavy & Hanging

Yeah, the dude from Drive By Truckers.  This is from before then though.  Back in '94, he threw some songs down on a boombox and handed hand-made cassettes to friends.  Fifteen years later, you get one of your own - minus the awesome personal touch, but still with the awesome grit and glory.  More info on the disc Murdering Oscar (and other love songs) - due out June 23 - over at Sterogum.

Lightning Dust – I Knew

Next up:  Its Candians vs. Swedes.  First, these Canuks have done a nice blend of dance and americana (minus the american part), and Jagjagwar took notice. They'll be releasing the Dust's disc on Aug. 4.  Remember these folks.  We'll be running into them again later on.

The Radio Dept. – David

But its hard to beat a Swede.  They're just so good at making pop songs.  And there are TONS of them.  Like this one.  Too bad there isn't a full length to follow right now.  But you can grab this single proper on June 24th and catch up with the other whereabouts at Brooklyn Vegan.

Regina Spektor – Folding Chair

What indie-loving-dude doesn't crush on this harlet?  She could break your heart and you wouldn't know it.  Smart girls rock.  Her new disc is called Far which is the opposite of its proximity to me.  See what I did there?  I turned it around.  Yeah, professional.

Holiday Shores – Phones Don’t Feud

Named after the street they live on, way down on Gator land.  The Griswalds had Holiday Road, which must lead to Holiday Shores.  That's a trip worth taking, especially if the rest of the disc follows this track.  My Old Kentucky Blog will fill you in on all the news surrounding their disc Columbus’d The Whim .

Cave Singers – Beach House

There is something about this breezy ballad that stops me in my tracks every time.  And usually at awkward moments.  Their disc is called Welcome Joy but it must be a slow-mo, running through the field type of Welcome, which is cool.  They also have the folks from Lightning Dust helping them out (see! told ya to remember them).  Pick it up on August 18th.

YACHT – Psychic City

Dance break!  There is a "bwoop" in this song that makes me think my iChat is going off.  I run to the computer only to find it staring back at me with that cold glare.  Good thing the song is so catchy.  See Mystery Lights should be at all of your house parties this summer.  Kanye West demands it!

The Agency – Bumpers

French kids talking about their hate for bumpers.  No clue what kind of bumpers or why they despise them, but once again, hide it behind a likeable beat, and it doesn't really matter what you're saying.

God Help The Girl – Mary’s Market

Yeah, the dude from Belle & Sebastain.  This one is a B-Side to a single, but seems to be getting all of the attention.  You can grab your own copy on 7 inch on July 20th.

Jay Retard – It Ain’t Gonna Save Me

Jay has the Morrissey syndrome.  Release a handful of singles, then compile them to a full disc later.  Lather, rinse, repeat.  Pop Tarts Suck Toasted is an awesome blog who gave it a B+.  Your grade...?

Circulatory System – Overjoyed

When I glance at this band's name, I always think I read "circumcision," which isn't a good name for a band at all.  Anyway, its their first since 2001.  A long time to make a record.  A long time to recover from a circumcision.  I'd be Overjoyed, too.  The kids are a-buzzin' on this one.

Anni Rossi – Venice (Live on Daytrotter)

This chick is awesome.  Seriously.  Do you like Andre Bird or Ben Sollee?  You'll love her.  Don't like those two?  You'll still love her.  She plays the viola and a stomp box and will rule your soul.

Pearl Jam – Get Some

In a band and want to know how to outlast all of your musical peers?  Go read the book Five Against One, which is about Pearl Jam.  Their new tune, which they debuted as the first guess for Conan after he took the reigns of the Tonight Show, rocks 99% better than any of the other tracks you're spinning.

Little Girls – Tamborine

I don't know what he's saying, but the guitar part calls for a margarita and Frankie & Annet doing Beach Blanket Bingo at a "come dressed as your favorite Joy Division character" party.  Fader is where ya need to go.

Fishboy – Cobra Cobra

My only complaint is that its too short, but that's also its charm.  They has a new 12 inch due out in August.  I'm interested to see how it goes.
