Premieres are pretty common, and so are conversations with composers or performers about those premieres; but rare is to talk to the father who is playing a concerto of his son, written specifically for him. Gabriel Kahane's piano concerto Heirloom and this conversation with his father, the celebrated pianist Jeffrey Kahane, is that rarity. Kahane, the elder, is in town to play the concerto with the Louisville Orchestra.
