The Louisville Orchestra presented an interesting program on Nov. 15 and 16, 2012 at the Brown Theatre featuring the Symphony No. 3 from Philip Glass; Serenade for Tenor, Horn and Strings, op 31 by Benjamin Britten; and Symphony No. 1 in C Major by Georges Bizet.
The strong contrasts between the works on the program were discussed in the pre-concert talk, led by Douglas Shadle, Visiting Assistant Professor of Music History at the University of Louisville School of Music. This podcast of the pre-concert talk includes Shadle's prepared remarks, as well as conversation with Maestro Jorge Mester and a chat and demonstration with L.O. horn player Jon Gustely.
