Louisville, Ky. (April 25, 2016) - 91.9 WFPK announces the May 25th line-up and more about Louisville’s favorite summer concerts! WFPK Waterfront Wednesday is a monthly free concert series on the Big Four Lawn in Louisville Waterfront Park, located next to the Big Four Pedestrian and Bicycle Bridge. To alleviate parking congestion caused by the KY/IN Bridges project, a free trolley service, courtesy of Republic Bank, will be offered.
The concerts take place on the final Wednesday of every month, April through September. Dates for the 2016 season are: April 27, May 25, June 29, July 27, August 31 & September 28. The Big Four Lawn “opens” at 5 pm, and the music begins promptly at 6 pm.
The May 25th installment of the summer series will feature Paul Thorn (9:00 pm, pictured above), The Howling Tongues (7:30 pm), and Nick Dittmeier and the Sawdusters (6:00 pm). Upcoming shows include Hayes Carll and Dylan LeBlanc (June), Brett Dennen and Lucius (July) and Nada Surf in September! Visit WFPK.orgfor the most updated information.
“Paul Thorn is one of my favorite artists. Talk about somebody with a powerful live performance. He’s funny, he’s funky, he’s sexy, he’s witty and he’s a great songwriter.
I love the energy. I figure he’s gonna grease the pan for me.” - Bonnie Raitt
“The Howling Tongues are fueled by the spirit of Southern rock n roll, reigniting a sound within the modern era. The entire band is so cohesive and master each instrument, creating booming pure rock. It’s only a matter of time until The Howling Tongues blow up and lead the way even further in the southern rock revival.” - Jimmy Shirley, musichostnetwork.com
Through relentless touring, Louisville's Nick Dittmeier and the Sawdusters have become mainstays of the Midwest Americana scene. In fall of 2015, they set ten highway-tested, fine-tuned songs loose in the confines of LA LA Land Studios. The result is "Midwest Heart/Southern Blues".
The April 27th WFPK Waterfront Wednesday, announced earlier this year, presents 1200, Liz Vice and Rayland Baxter.
Waterfront Wednesday is made possible by the generous support of Goose Island Brewing Company, Kroger, Republic Bank, and Passport Health Plan.
Special thanks to Friends of the Waterfront.
