Daniel Gilliam Returns to Classical 90.5 as Program Director
Louisville Public Media is pleased to announce the return of Daniel Gilliam as program director of Classical 90.5-FM. He will be leaving his position as program director of Classical MPR (Minnesota Public Radio) to begin work in Louisville on November 19. Classical 90.5 is Louisville’s only 24/7 classical music station.
“Daniel is brimming with ideas to expand the station's role in the community and to reach out to new audiences,” said Donovan Reynolds, president of Louisville Public Media. “He brings an intelligence and passion for classical music, unique gifts as a composer, and an engaging, creative presence that will benefit our listeners and Louisville’s arts and cultural institutions.”
Gilliam’s strategy for Classical 90.5 includes building a staff of announcers and producers committed to community engagement and expanded digital content, and strengthening the station’s educational programs. During his tenure at MPR, he created the station’s first education initiative to reach more students and teachers, and led MPR to include new programming, such as the video game music podcast, “Top Score,” and the movie music show, “Roll Credits.”
Classical 90.5 is a public radio service that broadcasts music and cultural programming 24/7. It offers free weekly recitals in the performance studio at 619 S. Fourth St. and champions local cultural institutions. The station nurtures youth through the Young Artist Competition and Instrumental Partners, a program that places instruments in the hands of deserving youth in our public schools. Both youth programs receive support from PNC Wealth Management. Classical 90.5 is part of the locally owned and operated not-for-profit Louisville Public Media.
