Louisville Public Media Thanks Community for Successful Spring Fundraiser

Louisville Public Media (LPM) is celebrating another successful membership drive, including a record number of Sustaining members.  The Spring campaign raised more than half a million dollars to support Louisville’s three public radio stations, 89.3 WFPL News, Classical 90.5, and 91.9 WFPK.  Strong, consistent community funding has made it possible for WFPL to add reporters and strengthen independent journalism in Metro Louisville.

"We're immensely grateful that our listeners have come through once again to support public radio,” said Donovan Reynolds, president of Louisville Public Media. “We would like to thank every member, volunteer, and business who donated their time and financial support. The success of public radio is a direct result of their generosity."

Reynolds added, “We are especially pleased by the dramatic increase in the number of Sustaining members. This will help to bolster LPM's long-term economic stability." LPM added a total of 1,388 Sustainers during the campaign. Of that total, 387 became Sustaining members in the month prior to the on-air Drive, which enabled LPM to shorten the on-air campaign from seven to six days.

Sustained donations provide a steady, reliable income stream. Every month, a specified contribution is deducted automatically from a member’s bank account or credit card. The membership renews automatically every year.  This allows the stations to focus more resources on programming and community service and less time and expense on direct mail efforts and on-air campaigning.

Louisville Public Media’s three nonprofit public radio stations provide 504 hours per week of trusted local, national and international news, insightful features, and inspiring arts and cultural programming.
