April 16, 2010: 91.9 WFPK is proud to announce that Nashville rocker Will Hoge will open for James McMurtry at The WFPK Derby Festival Wednesday Evening Concert at Kroger’s Fest-A-Ville on the Waterfront, Great Lawn, on Wednesday, April 28th at 7pm. This concert is free and open to the public with a 2010 Pegasus Pin®.Will Hoge is on tour in support his most recent release, The Wreckage, written in response to a recent near-death experience. Half-way through the recording process at a Nashville studio, Hoge was on his scooter, headed home. He was struck by an oncoming van. The accident sidelined the artist for almost a year. The end result, however, was a powerful new release. Eight months after the incident he re-entered the studio on a mission. He now has his health, an invigorated spirit, and a renewed sense of his musical journey. “Making The Wreckage opened me up in a different way,” says Hoge. “I felt a calmness, a purpose. Right now it feels like I’m getting to the core of what I want to do and why.” Already a WFPK favorite, Hoge will return to the Louisville Waterfront following his acclaimed 2009 Waterfront Wednesday performance. Expectations are high for another stellar show. And opening for WFPK core artist James McMurtry makes total sense. Two guitar-driven songwriters at the top of their craft will make for a great evening of Derby revelry for live music fans. Now in its fourth year, Kroger’s Fest-a-Ville on the Waterfront is a 500,000-square-foot entertainment venue featuring food and drink concessions, live concerts and children’s playground activities, among other attractions. Fest-a-Ville, which is located in Waterfront Park in downtown Louisville, opens Thursday, April 22, and runs through Friday, April 30. Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily; Saturday 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.For more information on 91.9 WFPK, please visit www.wfpk.org .
