Young musicians from around the region will perform at Louisville Public Media for the Classical 90.5 Young Artists Competition sponsored by PNC Wealth Management on November 7, 2009. The winners of this year’s competition will be part of a winners’ recital on the live broadcast of Lunchtime Classics on Wednesday, November 11th at noon.Soloists and chamber groups ranging in ages from 9 to 17 will bring their considerable range of talent to Louisville’s Fine Arts Station and to this important regional event. This year’s competition has 20 participants. “Performing in competition is an important part of every musician’s development,” says Classical 90.5’s Daniel Gilliam, “and Classical 90.5 is committed not only to encouraging that development but offering a place for the community to hear and see the breadth of talent in Louisville.” Following the performance, winners will receive trophies and prizes, with a first prize of $200.The judges for this year’s competition include Sidney King, double bass instructor at University of Louisville, and Joanna Goldstein, coordinator of the Music Department at Indiana University Southeast.The Lunchtime Classics winners’ recital on Classical 90.5 is free and open to the public on a first come basis.For more information, please visit www.wuol.org or contact Classical 90.5 Program Director Daniel Gilliam at (502) 814-6500 or dgilliam@wuol.org.
