Jennifer Lawrence Nominated for Academy Award for Third Time

For the third time, Louisville native Jennifer Lawrence is an Academy Award nominee.This time, the 23-year-old actress got a nod in the supporting actress category for her role in "American Hustle," a fictional take on the 1970s Abscam scandal from director David O. Russell. Russell also directed "Silver Linings Playbook," for which Lawrence won last year's Academy Award for best actress.Lawrence first gained national acclaim in 2011 with her Oscar best actress nomination for her breakout role in the indie drama "Winter's Bone." "Hunger Games: Catching Fire," in which she stars, was thetop grossing film in the U.S. in 2013.Earlier this week, Lawrence won aGolden Globe Awardfor her "American Hustle" role. The film also wonin the best motion picture (musical or comedy) category.The other nominees in this year's Academy Award for best supporting actress are:Sally Hawkins, "Blue Jasmine"Lupita Nyong'o, "12 Years a Slave"Julia Roberts, "August: Osage County"June Squibb, "Nebraska"Other nominations for "American Hustle" include Bradley Cooper for supporting actor, Amy Adams for lead actress, Christian Bale for lead actor, David O.
