The Fund for the Arts is sponsoring a live virtual tour of Louisville’s arts community using a smartphone app.
“#ArtIs: In Your Hands” will feature different cultural experiences from around the region every hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, using the app Periscope to stream and view live video.
People will be able to peek into a range of events, including a rehearsal at Louisville Ballet, a midday concert at Resurfaced, and a tour of the art museum at 21C.
Fund for the Arts President Christen Boone said the event is possible because of Louisville’s vibrant arts scene.
“None of these events we had to create. This is really just visiting what’s going on in our community on a normal day,” Boone said.
The broadcasts will be hosted by local television personality Angie Fenton. Each broadcast will start at the top of the hour and will last anywhere from five to 10 minutes.
Boone said this is the first time such an event has been done.
"Our local communications and engagement team really brought it to us and said this would be an exciting way and a really new and innovative way to be able to take our mission of access to the arts to a whole new level," Boone said.
