Cody Farmer had a big day. On Friday, he became a Louisville Metro Police officer—one of 23 recruits to graduate the department's training academy.He also proposed to his girlfriend,  Samantha Schmidt.She said yes.

Farmer proposed to his girlfriend on stage after receiving his badge. Farmer had planned on proposing at a restaurant after the ceremony, but his officers encouraged him to propose on stage.

Schmidt and her parents, Renee, 49, and Paul, 50, look at her engagement ring after exiting the stage. Schmidt had to wear another ring above her engagement ring to make sure the engagement ring did not slip off.

Officer Cody Farmer laughs while he hugs his fiancée, Samantha Schmidt, after the graduation ceremony concluded. Schmidt was "very, very excited" and said that the proposal was "totally unexpected."​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
