No Triple Crown This Year. Tonalist Wins the Belmont Stakes.

Horse racing will have to wait more  for a Triple Crown winner.Tonalist won the Belmont Stakes on Saturday, spoiling Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome's bid to become the first Triple Crown winner since Affirmed in 1978.Tonalist beat Commissioner at the wire. Medal Count finished third, with California Chrome—the heavy favorite—and second betting choice Wicked Strong in a dead heat for fourth.Related: Why Hasn't a Race Horse Won the Triple Crown Since 1978?Related: Should the Triple Crown Be Changed to Reflect Today's Horse Racing?After the race, California Chrome owner Steve Coburn in an NBC interview criticized owners whose horses don't have the points to qualify for the Derby but run in the Belmont.
