The Metropolitan Sewer District will increase its rate by 5.5 percent.The "typical" residential sewer bill each month will increase $2.02 and the drainage fee will increase by 40 cents. For those typical residents, the rate increase makes the monthly bill $44.58 based on 5,000 gallons of water consumption.It's a decrease from last year's 5.8 percent and the 6.5 percent levied from 2009 to 2012.
