Byline Today: Kentucky Prison Starvation Death, Yom HaShoah and More


Today on Byline, we'll hear about the death by starvation of a Kentucky prison inmate, the restoration of cuts to state program for low-income families, and the art of coffee-making.First off, the Associated Press' Brett Barroquere will discuss his story about the fallout of a  Kentucky State Penitentiary inmate James Kenneth Embry, who was serving a nine-year sentence for drug offenses. Embry died of starvation at the Eddyville prison.Later, I'll stop in to talk about the General Assembly's decision to increase funding for the Child Care Assistance Program, which offers a subsidy for child care costs to low-income working families. The program endured drastic cuts last year, but it'll besome time before it's fully restored.And, with Yom HaShoah coming up, WFPL's Rick Howlett talks toLouisville sisters who as children survived the ghetto of Minsk, Russia, during World War II.Also, WFPL's Gabe Bullard looked into the world of coffee competitions.Join us at 1 p.m. for these stories and much more.
