Due to an unforeseen construction delay, Okkervil River’s concert on Friday night at Mercury Ballroom has been cancelled.
We regret the short notice, but we also have good news! Okkervil River is performing at 7 p.m. on Thursday night in Indianapolis, and if you wish, we will provide you with a free ticket for the band’s show taking place at Deluxe at Old National Centre, 502 North New Jersey Street.
Also, if you do not want to drive to Indy, we’ll take you there by bus! The pickup location for the bus, which will leave at 4:30 p.m., will be at 625 S. Fourth Street in front of the Louisville Palace theater. Please arrive at 4 p.m. to board the bus. Immediately following the concert, you will be driven back to the pickup location. There will be no food or beverage service on the bus ride.
Mercury Ballroom, the new concert venue on South Fourth Street, will not open Friday as planned. The venue, which is owned by Live Nation, was scheduled to open April 4 with a concert by indie rockers Okkervil River. That concert will be held down the block at The Palace, which is also owned by Live Nation. A spokesperson for Mercury Ballroom attributes the delay to "typical construction issues we face with opening any new building." The new opening date has been set for Wednesday, April 9. Country/rock singer Corey Smith will headline.
