Murray State University Has a New President

MURRAY — Murray State Board of Regents Chairman Deno Curris is optimistic about the working relationship the board will have with the university's next president. The regents unanimously chose Eastern Oregon University President Bob Davies to be  MSU's 13th president on Wednesday.Board relationships were at the heart of former President Randy Dunn’s dismissal last year. With that in mind, Curris says the board was intently focused on its relationship with MSU’s next president.“I think there’s going to be very effective working relationships,” Curris says. "We felt that way about all three of the finalist candidates. Even though one had to pull out due to health reasons. The consultant was very much aware of that situation and gave us full briefings so there was very little guessing."Davies begins his job July 14 at an annual salary of $300,000.Davies succeeds Tim Miller, who'd served as MSU's interim president since Dunn's departure. The regents on Wednesday lifted the "interim" part of Miller's title, officially making him Murray's 12th president.Dunn became president of Youngstown State University in Ohio in July 2013. But last month, Dunn was named president of Southern Illinois University.
