A little over an hour north-west of Louisville is a town called Medora, Indiana. Population less than one-thousand. And little Medora High School, with only 33 male students, fields the worst basketball team in the league, the Medora Hornets. As of the start of the 2010-11 season, they were in the middle of a years-long losing streak. Filmmakers Davy Rothbart ("FOUND" magazine) and Andrew Cohn moved to Medora and filmed the season.The product of their nine months is "Medora," a candid and honest look at the challenges facing a small town scrambling to keep its own head above water and the young men who make up the Hornets, who face their own considerable challenges at home while attempting what some consider the impossible -- to win just one basketball game. "Medora" will have its Louisville premiere at Baxter Avenue Filmworks Sunday at 7:30 p.m. Rothbart, Cohn and several of the basketball players will be present for a Q&A after the screening. On today's "Byline," Rothbart spoke with WFPL's Erin Keane about basketball, rural Indiana, and the incredible young men at the heart of the film.Watch the trailer for "Medora."
