The Indiana Hoosiers baseball team beat the Louisville Cardinals on Saturday night in the teams' first game of the College World Series.The Hoosiers were helped by strong pitching, holding the Cardinals to four hits and leading to a final score of 2-0.The Cardinals trailed 1-0 in the first inning when the Hoosiers' Scott Donley hit a single, scoring Kyle Schwarber.Louisville kept the game close with key defensive plays—including a play at home base in the third inning when Louisville catcher Shane Crain tagged out Schwarber at home. But the Hoosiers' Will Nolden scored, giving them the two-run lead.Louisville starting pitcher Chad Green was relieved in the third inning. Indiana's Joey DeNato was the winning pitcher.Both teams play next on Monday—the Hoosiers against Mississippi State and the Cardinals against Oregon State.The loser of the Louisville-Oregon State game will be eliminated for the World Series.
