Listen | Panel in Louisville to Explore Status of U.S.-Korean Relations

With enduring tensions between North and South Korea, the World Affairs Councils of America and the Korea Economic Institute will host a panel discussion Wednesday in Louisville on U.S.-Korea relations.The panelists will be:

  • Troy Stangarone, senior director of congressional affairs and trade for the Korea Economic Institute of America
  • Jongmin Kim, first secretary for economic affairs, for the Embassy of the Republic of Korea
  • Donny Yoo, officer of Korean affairs for the U.S. State Department

The panel discussion will be at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Marriott Downtown Louisville, 280 W. Jefferson St. The cost is $15 for World Affairs Council members and $25 for non-members.WFPL's Jonathan Bastian talked with Stangarone about the situation between North and South Korea, and how the U.S. is approaching the matter."When you look at what's happened under Kim Jong-un, I think this has kind of caught a lot of people by surprise," he said. "The rhetoric has been more specific, more vitriolic, and they've simply taken and engaged in more types of provocation than we've seen in the past."Listen to the full interview below:
