University of Louisville students living in the Miller Hall dorms that were displaced last year after mold was discovered will move back into the dorms this weekend.
Last October around 270 freshman students were forced to relocate after mold spores were found in a 80 percent of dorm rooms. U of L officials said mold was also found in other complexes and would be treated appropriately.U of L Housing Director Shannon Staten says the mold has now been addressed and students should feel safe in all the buildings.“We’ve assured them [parents/students] that Miller is probably in the best condition now of any of the older buildings, not only because its been thoroughly cleaned from top to bottom and it has new heating and air units, but we have new room furniture," she says.Staten says Miller Hall will likely only be 65 percent full, but she says capacity in spring is usually lower than the fall. The cost to U of L is estimated to be around $3.2 million. In the video below from U of L, officials say Miller Hall was cleaned and upgraded including the replacement of the heating and air systems in all rooms, replacement of window blinds and all new furniture.http://youtu.be/TsTIgkTfL-Y
