Kentucky Treasurer Todd Hollenbach says $216,000 of unclaimed property has been returned to owners in the 21 designated disaster counties following last month’s storms.Department officials say by seeking unclaimed property owners they hope to stimulate the economies of damaged regions. The state’s unclaimed property division is still working on thousands of claims worth more than $26 million.Officials say since Lexis Nexis donated software to help find unclaimed property owners the finding process has sped up. The state is currently verifying 170 claims for Morgan County totaling nearly $50,000. Each county will receive a similar review in the upcoming weeks, officials say.County Judge Executives in affected counties were also invited last week to use the Treasure Finder’s Program, which uses local volunteers to locate unclaimed property holders.
