The Metropolitan Sewer District is beginning the new year by addressing some of the concerns raised last month in a state audit. The MSD Board’s Policy Committee will meet this morning. In her audit, Crit Luallan found numerous shortcomings with the way the MSD was operated. One of the problems was ethics: her report cited the lack of an enforceable ethics policy as a problem that could create real or perceived conflicts of interest. The MSD Board has been talking about implementing a more stringent ethics policy for months, spurred by the audit and calls from Metro Council who want to see MSD adopt a policy similar to the Metro Government Ethics Code. The policy committee meets at 9am, followed by the full board meeting at 10:00. Both are open to the public.
