Certain Greater Clark County Schools are helping some parents adjust to changes in their schedules due to the indefinite closure of the Sherman Minton Bridge.A partner of Greater Clark County Schools, Communities in Schools, has opened its extended-day learning program to all parents for a daily fee for this week only. Parents can drop children off as early as 6:30 am at one of seven elementary schools with the program. For the rest of the week it will cost parents $7 per day and $5 for each additional child. Parents can then choose to sign up for the program and pay its $35 weekly fee.“Looks like they’re only averaging one extra child per site that actually took advantage of the offer,” said Erin Bojorques, supervisor of communication for Greater Clark County Schools.Executive Director for Communities in Schools Kathy Graninger says that number may change as parents adjust to new commutes. The Jeffersonville elementary schools that are not accepting students at this time are Pleasant Ridge, New Washington and Spring Hill schools.
