After more than 400 job seekers attended a “Build Your Skills” workshop last year, U.S. Rep. John Yarmuth, D-Ky., announced Wednesday that he would host a second set of free seminars for those seeking job opportunities. The event will offer Louisville residents who are unemployed, underemployed or looking to change careers a chance to receive professional advice on resume writing and interviewing skills."It was a huge help to the people who attended last year and people got great advice on how to portray themselves and obtain skills that make them more marketable in the job scene. A number of people were hired on that spot last year," Yarmuth told WFPL. "We have a number of employers who will help people and obvious if they see somebody they need they'll jump on that opportunity, so I hope people come out."Workshops will be led by career counselors and experts who will also participate in one-on-one sessions with individuals seeking employment opportunities. Yarmuth's office is partnering with KentuckianaWorks and the Louisville Urban League to host the event. The seminars are scheduled for July 22 at Jefferson Community and Technical College's downtown campus in the health sciences building. Interested residents can reserve a spot bychecking in with the congressman's website or calling 502-582-5129.
