Jefferson County Public Schools Superintendent Sheldon Berman has a new job. Last night, he was named the next superintendent of schools for the 4J school district in Eugene, Oregon. The chair of the Eugene school board described Berman as “a visionary educational leader” with “strong leadership skills and educational expertise.” Berman’s new school district has about 16,000 students. JCPS serves about 100,000 students. The Jefferson County School Board did not to renew Berman’s current contract, which ends after this school year. Berman takes over in Eugene on July 1st.
