Churchill Downs Incorporated is reporting an increase in earnings for 2010. The company released its 4th quarter and end-of-year reports Monday.Revenues increased 24% last year to more than $585 million. Company officials are withholding comment until a conference call Tuesday morning, but in a statement, they attribute the gains to three areas: First, the Calder Casino in Florida, which opened at the beginning of last year; second, the acquisition of a wagering system website; and, third, growth of the official Churchill Downs wagering website, twinspires.com.The company also saw disappointments in 2010. Most notably, the Churchill Downs Entertainment wing shut down months after the Hullabalou music festival in Louisville.
