The asphalt courts will replace the current tennis courts there.Councilman George Unseld says the $350-thousand project is being funded by a number of allocations he’s secured in the last six city budgets. He says it’s a good project to fund in tough economic times.“Everything is not gloom and doom," says Unseld. "Yeah, we in a financial crunch. The economy is not in the pits, but it’s close. So what we trying to show is we on the way back.”A community group is working to privately raise $150-thousand to fund bleachers and lights for the courts.Metro Parks plans to complete the project by fall.
