by Stephanie CrosbyWednesday is the deadline for amateur bands from all over the country to turn in their submissions for a contest to perform at the first-even HullabaLOU music festival at Churchill Downs. The contest is open to unsigned music acts.HullabaLOU spokesperson Carolyn McLean says the festival has some big names performing, like Kenny Chesney and Bon Jovi, but they wanted to have space for relatively unknown bands too.“We expect it to bring 90-thousand people, approximately 30-thousand a day, for each of our festivals and our events, so we thought this would be a perfect opportunity to showcase some talent in the city of Louisville," says McLean. After Wednesday’s deadline, a panel of Louisville media personalities will narrow the field to ten. Those finalists will be announced May 19th.Then online votes will determine two winners from those ten. The two winning acts will perform the Sunday of HullabaLOU.
