A pediatric orthopedic surgeon with Kosair Children’s Hospital is going to Haiti to help out with the relief effort there.Dr. Josh Meier is joining a medical mission team from a Memphis hospital, and is one of two pediatric orthopedic surgeons on the team.Meier says they plan to leave for Haiti on Saturday.“We don’t quite know what to expect," says Meier. "At this point, it’s been three weeks or so since the actual earthquake, so the acute injuries people have been seeing maybe a week or two ago may not be present or treatable anymore, and so that’s one of the challenges is not knowing the kind of things to expect.”Meier says he jumped at the chance to join the team from Memphis, because he’d wanted to find a way to get to Haiti to help out.
