From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighThe results of two special elections in Kentucky last Tuesday have been certified by the state Board of Elections.In last Tuesday’s Kentucky Senate race, Republican Rep. Jimmy Higdon of Lebanon defeated Democrat Jodie Haydon of Bardstown by 2,446 votes for the Senate seat formerly held by Republican Dan Kelly.Higdon will be sworn in Wednesday at Marion County High School by Lexington Rep. Stan Lee. Lee was the first Marion County High School graduate to serve in the Kentucky House. Rep. Higdon is the school’s first graduate to serve in the Senate.The state Board of Elections also certified the outcome of last Tuesday’s House race in northeast Kentucky.Republican Jill York defeated Democrat Barry Webb by 882-votes for the House seat formerly held by Democratic Robin Webb, who’s now a state senator.
