Louisville Football Team Takes Field for Senior Day

Tomorrow is Senior Day for the University of Louisville’s football team. Although it’s been a tough season for all, it’ll be a bittersweet goodbye for the team’s senior members.Senior Trent Guy came to the Louisville program under Bobby Petrino, and was on the field win the Cardinals won the Orange Bowl in 2007. The Cards have not played a post-season game since then, but Guy’s attitude toward the program and Petrino’s successor, Steve Kragthorpe, has not diminished.“Coach K is a great man," says Guy. "He doesn’t only want you to succeed on the football field, but in life, as a man. He really cares about you as a person and what you do outside of this program. He wants you to be a great husband, a great father, be great to the community, great in society. People outside this program wouldn’t know that, they only see him as a coach.”Many fans are looking for the dismissal of Kragthorpe, but Guy is quick to defend his leader, and the program.“This day got here fast," says Guy. "I love this program. I love being here. It’s going to be a very emotional week for me through practice and game day, I don’t know how I’m going to handle myself before the game, so it’s going to be very emotional for me.”The four-and-seven Cardinals will face seven-and-three Rutgers at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium. Kickoff is set for Friday morning at eleven. Also this weekend, the University of Kentucky hosts Tennessee Saturday evening.
