The American Printing House for the Blind's museum staff is hoping to attract new visitors in the days after Thanksgiving. This year, the Louisville museum is celebrating the StoryCorps National Day of Listening. On Saturday, visitors to the museum can sit down with a friend or family member in a recording studio and tape an interview, of which they’ll receive a copy.Museum Director Michael Hudson says the Printing House often sponsors events to attract new visitors after Thanksgiving."A lot of people in Louisville don't know we exist, so we're always looking for interesting ways to kind of tweak people's curiosity and get them to come into our building and learn a little bit more about this unique Louisville facility," he says. "Lots of people have a family member that they've always said to them, 'You know, I need to sit down with a tape recorder and talk to dad or talk to grandpa about the way life was in the old days.'"The recording studio will be open from 10 AM to 3 PM on Saturday. Visitors can reserve a timeslot by calling the museum.
