Water Line Burst Damages State Periodicals
From Kentucky Public Radio's Tony McVeighMore than 30-thousand state periodicals were damaged over the weekend when a water line burst at the Kentucky Libraries and Archives building in Frankfort. But State Archivist Barbara Teague says only two or three documents are a total loss.“One was from 2001. And we lost a couple from 2005 that were done on the slick paper and so they got stuck together more quickly than we could separate them. So, we lost those three publications," says Teague. "We are able to save anything else that was wet or damp. We’re still working on all of those.”The water line that burst was on the second floor and damage was limited to the research room on the floor below. The state’s rare documents are on the third floor.
