Cards Win In Front of Record Low Crowd

The University of Louisville football team’s record is now three-and-five after a win last weekend against Arkansas State. And the Cards have used three different starting quarterbacks in those victories.Last week the two scholarship quarterbacks at Louisville were out with injuries, so the starting QB was red-shirt freshman walk-on Will Stein. He led the Cards to a 21-13 win.Coach Steve Kragthorpe says Stein had a solid performance, but he wasn’t surprised.“He had played himself into the competition throughout fall training camp, and he’s a guy that can play," says Kragthorpe. "Seriously, quarterback is the least of my concerns right now.”Kragthorpe says he’ll make a decision later this week about who will start at quarterback Saturday, after he’s seen some more practice. He’ll also wait to see if juniors Adam Froman and Justin Burke are able to play.The win Saturday was in front of the smallest crowd ever recorded at Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium - 21,000. Kragthorpe says the team is grateful to the fans who have stuck with them through a difficult season.“I thought we had a great group of loyal Louisville fans at the game and I appreciate everyone coming, I know the players appreciate the people who were there," says Kragthorpe. "People can make their decision whether they want to come to the game or not, I’m not going to influence that. But I do appreciate the people that were at the game, and I know the players did too. They were loud and proud, they did a good job, I thought.”The Cards are back in Big East conference play Saturday, with a matchup against West Virginia.
