The availability of H1N1 vaccines across the country changes on a daily basis, and health officials in Kentucky and Indiana are keeping a close eye on news from the CDC so they can distribute the vaccine as rapidly as possible.Indiana State Health Department spokesperson Melissa Dexter says they check new distribution information from CDC every morning, and order as many doses as they can.“We are planning on just continuing that process, ordering as much as we can as soon as we can, because that’s working really well for us right now," says Dexter. "We are able to get vaccine out to Hoosiers pretty quickly, and as soon as we get enough vaccine our local health departments will be able to start holding more clinics and getting more vaccine out.”Indiana was among the first states to receive their doses of the vaccine earlier this month.Kentucky has been approved for about 176,000 doses of the vaccine so far, which could inoculate about 5% of the population. Most of the early doses have been directed at high risk groups such as pregnant women and health care workers.
