Wayside Christian Mission wants move into its new property at 2nd and Broadway, but is waiting for the go-ahead from the Metro Planning and Design Division. The homeless shelter sent a letter last week to the division, asking for a clarification as to whether the shelter can operate at the property, which is zoned commercial.Wayside spokesperson Nina Moseley says they are expected a favorable opinion.“We don’t anticipate a zoning change because currently there’s no zoning code in the land development code that specifically allows shelters,' says Moseley, "so all they can do is look at the uses and see if those uses are permitted.”But Moseley says they’re hoping to hear from the division soon, so they can prepare the property for use by winter.
