The Louisville Metro Police Department, Greater Louisville, Inc. and the Secret Service have begun an initiative to teach local business owners how to recognize and prevent crimes. To help businesses prevent theft, the LMPD will distribute posters and set up a website for crime prevention and reporting.Secret Service Agent Paul Johnson says the campaign is aimed at both external and internal threats."You need to have preventative procedures in place to prevent not only someone from coming in to burglarize your store after hours or a robbery of sorts, but also preventing internal theft," he says.Johnson says he's concerned that as the economy continues to struggle there will be an increase in business theft. The education campaign leads up to a business summit this fall.
