On Friday Louisville Mayor Jerry Abramson will travel to Washington D.C. to meet with the president about the federal stimulus package.Abramson is among several mayors called to the nation’s capital to discuss the management and spending of stimulus funds. But before stimulus dollars can come to Louisville, they have to go through either the state General Assembly or federal agencies.Mayor's spokesperson Chris Poynter says the city can compete on the federal level, but it’s sometimes difficult to convince the state legislature to send money to Louisville."We're hopeful that being the largest city in the state, being the economic engine for this state, that a significant portion of that stimulus money will come here," he says.Poynter says he's not sure exactly how much money Louisville stands to receive from the stimulus.
