U.S. House leadership has named Congressman John Yarmuth to the influential House Ways and Means Committee.In an interview last month, Yarmuth said he was pursuing a spot on the committee, after receiving encouragement to do so. He said then he looked forward to possibly working on issues of great importance to the country."Ways and Means is a very important community dealing with taxes and trade and health care policy," says Yarmuth, "and I would like to participate in those discussions on a very deep basis."The committee also looks into issues surrounding tax policy and child welfare.For the last two years, Yarmuth has served on the Education and Labor Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
