Kentucky Supreme Court to Hear Arguments in Louisville

The high court is hearing cases in Louisville Wednesday and Thursday.Supreme Court Chief Justice John Minton says it’s important for Kentuckians to understand how the state’s highest court works. And he says you shouldn’t have to travel to Frankfort to find out."A better informed public makes for a better citizenry and the more understanding of the courts increases the public appreciation for and trust in the court system," says Minton.Earlier this year, the seven-member court heard cases in northern Kentucky. This week, they’re at the University of Louisville Brandeis School of Law. A challenge to the state’s Castle Doctrine on self-defense is among the six cases to be heard.The high court is also hearing an appeal from Michael Carneal, who killed three classmates and wounded five others in December 1997 at Paducah’s Heath High School.
