Citing city plans to expand parks and add bike lanes, Outside Magazine has named Louisville one of the 20 Best Towns of 2008. (.pdf preview of the August issue here: Outside Magazine Best Towns of 2008 Preview)And in late June, the U.S. Conference of Mayors named Louisville the most "livable" city (OK, we shared that one with Dubuque, IA). The mayors praised the city's Healthy Hometown initiative, and, once again, its plans to design a city that's friendlier to walkers and cyclists.(Note: the city must put in an application for the Mayors, but according to my city hall source, Outside Magazine just "up and thought of us on their own"!)It's great news for Louisville to be recognized so publicly for environmental efforts. Do you think the ‘Ville deserves these honors? If so, why? If not, why not?
